How to convert between a fraction, decimal, and percentage

For this task I created a DLO of how to convert between a fraction, decimal, and a percentage. For this task I found difficult because it was hard to explain how to covernet between one another. Also I enjoyed this task because it got me to foucs more on learning on how to convert because as I grow Maths will always be with me wherever I go.

Tongan Word Problems

For this task my maths group created a tongan word problem for HTLW. We used all the different Tongan cultrue items and foods to create our word problems. My word problem that I wrote was. Tevita has a total of 12 lu sipis. Samisoni eats ¼ of the lu sipis. How many did he eat? and wrote the answer in the speaker notes. I enjoyed this task because I got to create my own cultural word problems.

Place value

LI: To explore different numbers.

For this task me and my partner learnt about the place value and then explain how to do place value and what to do. place value is where theres a different type of cagtorgories for eample one tens hundreds and etc. it is where the digit 4 would be put in to the tens catagorie and the ones digit 3 makeing the number 3 4 because the tens is ten times higher than the ones.

Statistical Invistigation

LI: To read the text, gather, sort, graph and analyse the data.

Today I Learnt how to use statistival invistigation for my blog. I had to resurch and find how many blog posts I have done and anyilisise how many posts I have done. I liked finding my blogs because I got to see if I have gotten better at bloging from 2021 to 2023. In my strand book I learnt about what Mean, Median, Mode mean.

Mean is the sum of numbers divided by the numbers in the group example 3, 11, 7    3 + 7 + 11 = 21. To find the mean you add up all the numbers and divide how many numbers there are.

Median is the number in the middle of a sorted number to find the median put the numbers in smallest to largest, for example 3 4 6 7 2 sort out the numbers from smallest to largest 2 3 4 6 7. find the middle number. 4 is the median.

Mode to find the mode or model you have to put the numbers in order smallest to largest includeing the repeated numbers for example 12 10 8 12 7 10 13 6 12. put them in order 6, 7, 8, 10, 10, 12, 12, 12, 13. What number appears the most. The mode is 12.

 

Decimals

This week for maths I had to learn about decimals.

First I had to Subtracting decimals uses the same setup as adding decimals: line up the decimal points, and then subtract. In cases where you are subtracting two decimals that extend to different place values, it often makes sense to add extra zeros to make the two numbers line up—this makes the subtraction a bit easier to follow.

Next I had to add to subtract decimals 1) Line up the decimal points vertically. Fill in any 0’s where necessary. 2) Add or subtract the numbers as if they were whole numbers. 3) Place the decimal point in the sum or difference so that it lines up vertically with the numbers being added or subtracted.

Figure it out

This week I had to do my figure it out slides.

First I had to move on to the next slide when I finished all of slide 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 and 17. I had to cary on to what the other slides were. Then I had to work out how many pieces of fudge are in each tin without counting each piece of fudge? I used my times table to figure it out. After that I had to make a cardboard box or and paper box.

Next I had to gather all of the materials for making my box, to make a box the meterials are tape/glue pencil/pen and paper. to make a box you would need to carefully pull aprat two or three different shaped boxes and look at the net. Design a net for a smaller version of my box and square grind paper. then I had to cut out the net and make a box. The base needs to be at least 5 centimetres by 5 centimetres square.

Then I had to discuss with a partner what translation, rotation and reflection mean. Translation means when your trying to figure out what there saying in english for example if someone was speaking togan you would translate what they said because you don’t understand.

Lastly I had to figure out the mysterious numbers for the who am I scale.

Figure it out slides

This week for maths I had to make a copy of the figure it out slides that my teacher assigned me with.

First I had to figure out what date is good for the school gala to host. And then after each question I had to change buddys after i finish each question. Next I had to figure out the maths for the second slide I had to read through which class had the most votes for the different vote

Next I had to do my graph on my maths book. Then I had to look at how many votes this class got. The different vote was Books, Kapa Haka, Computer, Sports, and Trip to wellington. Then I had to do holding a vote me and my classmate had to vote for the choices above.  Next I had to add your classmates votes to the Te Rata school votes. The only slides I had to figure out is page 1 and page 8.

Lastly I enjoyed this task. I need to improve on inferring.

Graphs

This week I had to draw a graph for my school gala.

First I had to look for a question on my school gala form and put that as my title for my graph. Some of the things that a graph needs is a title scale cattegories/labes y axis and x axis.

Next I had to write four “I can see” statements which category had the most votes? Why? how many votes did the top answer get? how many votes did the bottom answer get? and what was the least voted? Why?

Lastly I had to get a maths book a ruler and a pen to write out my graph for my school gala.
