Where Children Sleep

For this task we found out how these poor children sleep at their home and make inferences about what is shown in the picture. It was really heartbroken to see what these people have to go through in life. We need to care for our people and others around us. These photos have two different sides, a rich and poor side. The photo you see on the top is a very wealthy chinese kind and at the bottom is a homeless child. which I can infer that the kid on the top is spoiled and the kid at the bottom has nothing and is in a terrible condition.

Provocation

LI: to learn what a provocation is

For Reading we were learning about what a Provocation is. A Provocation is a certain topic that triggers emotions and feelings and lets people express their personal opinions on the topic. The topic for our Provocation was the nations that hosted the Olympics, should they spend so much money on the Olympic facilities. Japan spent 15.4 billion dollars on their facilities for the Olympics. To continue our learning Reading we also read a book about the Olympics, on Violet Walrond. Reading the book we had to answer a set of questions with our Reading Group. Tese helped us with our comprehension and inferring skills.

Ancient Olympics – Mascot

LI: To create a mascot for Ancient Olympics.

For this task me and my partner made a mascot to represent the ancient olympics and explain why we chose to create this mascot. The mascot that is shown is a spartan, the legendary warriors who protect Sparta and fight for their nation. Sparta is a nation that has been at war with Athens, their arch nemesis and the flag on their shield is the original spartan flag and this represents the letter lambda which symbolises Lacedaemon, the name of Sparta during antiquity.

RE

Ancient Greek logo.

LI: To make your own Ancient Greek logo.

For this task me and my partner made an ancient greek logo representing the different kinds of olympics they had in Greece. The Olympics were made to honour Zeus the father of gods and he is the strongest olympian god because of his mighty strength and his power to throw lightning bolts. The wreath is a victory crown to honour the athlete who wins the games or if  they did really good they would get a statue of themselves. And the  map of ancient Greece is where the Olympics started in 776 BC and the first Olympics were held in Athens .

2 words 2 minutes.

For this task we used the ‘2 words 2 minute’ challenge to write a description about the ancient olympics. After talking in pairs about the things we knew about the ancient  olympics we created a list of words (vocabulary) that would help us write our description. We chose the words ‘Greece’ and ‘athletes’ to help us think about what we were going to write.

We talked about ideas with a partner, then we had 2 minutes to put those ideas into sentences. After the time was up we had 2 minutes to reread what we had written and make changes if anything didn’t make sense or if we had words and punctuation in the wrong place. When we finished checking we had 2 more minutes to carry on writing our descriptions.

This activity was intresting because I have never done it before and I liked the gamnes.
